Privacy Policy

The short version

StraightPic runs entirely on your device. The app does not collect personal information, upload your photos, use analytics, display advertising, or communicate with any servers operated by Elevator Beat LLC.

StraightPic has no accounts, tracking technology, backend service, or third-party software. Your photos remain under your control.

Information we collect

StraightPic does not collect personal data. We do not collect:

• Your photos or videos
• Names, email addresses, or contact information
• Device identifiers
• Location information
• Usage history
• Advertising information
• Analytics or diagnostic information
• Payment information

The app does not maintain a history of the photos you edit. It stores only a local setting indicating whether you have already viewed the introduction. That setting remains inside the app on your device and is never transmitted.

How StraightPic handles your photos

StraightPic opens only the photo you choose through Apple’s photo picker or take using the in-app camera. It does not browse, index, scan, or analyze the rest of your photo library.

Photo correction takes place on your device using Apple’s image-processing frameworks. StraightPic does not upload your photos to Elevator Beat LLC or send them to another company.

After straightening a photo, you may choose to:

• Save as New Photo, which creates a new item in your photo library.
• Save to Original, which applies the correction to the selected library item using Apple’s standard, reversible photo-editing system.

When you use Save to Original, the unedited version remains available through the Revert option in Apple Photos. Photos taken with StraightPic’s camera are not automatically saved — the photo exists inside the editor until you choose to save it or close the editor.

Photo-library permission

StraightPic may request permission to access your photo library when you use a feature that requires it. Permission is requested when needed, not when the app launches.

Accessing a selected photo. Photo access allows StraightPic to open the full-quality version of the photo you selected and, when authorized, apply an edit using Save to Original. StraightPic supports Apple’s limited-library option — you may allow access only to selected photos. If you decline full photo-library access, you may still select and straighten photos, but Save to Original will not be available.

Saving a new photo. Add-only photo permission allows StraightPic to save a corrected image as a new photo. If you decline this permission, StraightPic cannot add the corrected image to your library.

Camera access. Camera permission allows you to take a photo from inside StraightPic. If you decline camera access, you can continue using photos selected from your library.

You can review or change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Temporary files for Live Photos

Most StraightPic operations take place entirely in memory and do not create temporary files. Live Photos are an exception because their paired video component must temporarily exist as a file while the corrected Live Photo is created. These files are stored only in StraightPic’s private, sandboxed temporary directory — other apps cannot access that directory, and it is not included in device backups.

Temporary Live Photo files are deleted as soon as the save operation finishes. If the app crashes or is closed by iOS before deletion completes, StraightPic removes any remaining temporary files the next time the app opens. StraightPic deletes only files it created; it does not clear the device’s general temporary storage.

Information stored inside your photos

When you straighten a photo selected from your photo library, StraightPic preserves the original photo information contained in the file. This may include capture date, camera and lens settings, EXIF and TIFF information, and GPS or location information, when present. This information remains embedded in the straightened photo so the result stays a faithful copy of the original — StraightPic does not separately read, store, or transmit this information. The image-orientation field is normalized because the straightening correction is applied directly to the image pixels.

Photos taken using StraightPic’s in-app camera follow a different path: original camera metadata, including EXIF and GPS information, is not carried into the saved image, and Apple Photos may assign its own creation date when the image is saved. The sample image included with the app contains no personal metadata.

iCloud Photos

StraightPic itself never uploads or transmits your photos. When you select a photo that is stored in iCloud but not currently downloaded to your device, iOS may retrieve it from your own iCloud account so StraightPic can open it. This transfer is handled by Apple under your iCloud settings — it is a transfer between your device and Apple, not a transfer to Elevator Beat LLC. StraightPic does not control, observe, or receive information about that transfer.

Purchases and reporting provided by Apple

StraightPic is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the purchase and may collect information associated with your Apple account or payment method under Apple’s own privacy policy. Elevator Beat LLC does not receive your payment details. Apple may provide Elevator Beat LLC with aggregate App Store information, such as sales and download totals.

If you have enabled the option to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may also provide anonymized crash or usage reports. This reporting is controlled and collected by Apple — StraightPic does not contain its own analytics or crash-reporting software. Apple’s privacy policy is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Third-party services

StraightPic contains no third-party libraries, analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporters, or hosted services. The app is built entirely using frameworks provided by Apple. StraightPic does not send your information to third parties. See our Open Source page for details.

Children’s privacy

StraightPic is not specifically directed to children. The anticipated App Store age rating is 4+. Because StraightPic does not collect personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your privacy rights

Elevator Beat LLC does not receive or maintain personal data through StraightPic. We therefore have no personal information associated with your use of the app that we can access, correct, export, sell, or delete. Your photos remain in your photo library or inside the app while you are editing them — you can manage or delete those photos directly through Apple Photos.

This applies equally to rights provided by laws including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, the United Kingdom GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and the California Privacy Rights Act.

Changes to this policy

The current version of this policy will remain available at this same public URL. If a future version of StraightPic changes how information is handled, Elevator Beat LLC will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures before or at the same time as the app update that introduces the change. Material changes will also be identified in the app’s App Store release notes.
